GoToVendor signup & checkout flow — handoff spec

How the vendor signup funnel works in this app, in plain terms — ready to replicate on gotovendor.com.

1. Silent registration ("guest-first, account in the background")

  • Step 1 of the form captures email + name and saves a "pending signup" record tied to a browser session ID.
  • At the same moment, the backend silently creates the actual user account using that email — the visitor never sees a register wall or verification step. Because an account now exists, the email system can always reach them, even if they never finish.
  • One password field appears on step 1 (used to create and sign into the account in a single move) — no separate register page, no OTP screen anywhere in the funnel.
  • If they finish paying, the same account is simply promoted to full access. No duplicate accounts.

2. Abandoned-email engine

  • The pending signup record stores their last activity time and three reminder flags (1 hour / 1 day / 1 month).
  • A scheduled job runs on a sweep: anyone still marked "active" past the timer gets a reminder email and gets flagged so they're never emailed twice. Anyone who completes the flow is marked "completed" and skipped automatically.
  • If a reminder email can't be delivered, it logs and skips that person instead of crashing the whole batch — one bad address never stalls the campaign.

3. Email setup in the backend

  • All sends go through one email function per message type (welcome, reminder 1/2/3, receipt), so wording is edited in one place.
  • Use your own domain as the sender (info@gotovendor.com) so it doesn't land in spam.
  • Keep every reminder email dead simple: their name, what they left half-finished, one big button back to the exact step they stopped at.
  • Note: sending to addresses that aren't registered app users is more restricted on this platform — registered users are always reachable.

4. Analytics — clean and simple

  • One analytics event per funnel step: started → profile done → plan picked → payment page opened → card entered → attempted → succeeded/failed. Every event carries session ID, email, and plan.
  • Two views: a funnel (where people drop off, in order) and a revenue split — "founder freebie" signups (100% discount codes) counted separately from paid, so real cash signups vs. comped ones are always known.
  • A daily email with yesterday's numbers: new signups, payments, revenue, drop-off spot.

5. The checkout form itself

  • Everything already typed pre-fills the final page; one pre-checked "same address" box hides the address block.
  • Trust badges ("Secure payment," "Cancel anytime") right next to the pay button; card fields as close to the top as possible on mobile.
  • Checkout must open as a top-level page — when embedded in a frame, open a new tab synchronously in the click handler so popup blockers don't eat it.
